About This Place

Located in the heart of Fremont at 5325 Mowry Ave, Country Way offers a distinctive American dining experience that centers on hearty breakfast and classic comfort food. This beloved local restaurant invites guests to slow down and savor generous plates of traditional favorites, all served within a charming, old-fashioned atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace from the past.

Stepping into Country Way, you’re greeted by a nostalgic diner vibe—an unpretentious, cozy space that celebrates timeless design over fleeting trends, creating a sense of genuine comfort. As customer Ivan Baradi perfectly puts it, this is a place that honors the classics rather than chasing the latest renovations, and the experience is all the richer for it. Fast, friendly service complements this homely environment, making you feel genuinely cared for from the moment you sit down.

The menu reads like a celebration of American breakfast staples done exceptionally well. Standouts include the Country Fried Steak Breakfast Plate, a true indulgence with its tender, crispy fried steak and eggs, accompanied by golden, savory country potatoes—perfectly seasoned and abundant enough to inspire satisfaction with every bite. For those craving something sweet yet substantial, the French Toast Combo and French Toast Breakfast are golden, fluffy delights, expertly prepared to a soft, custardy center, paired beautifully with syrup that enhances without overwhelming.

If you prefer eggs with a bit of a twist, the Eggs Benedict with Avocado and Country Potatoes offers a fresh take on the classic, blending creamy avocado and rich hollandaise in perfect harmony. The Country Way Special Omelette and Garden Omelette are packed with flavors and generous ingredients, beloved by those who want a filling yet balanced meal. Not to be missed, the Fried Chicken & Waffle marries crispy, succulent chicken with a light Belgium waffle and syrup—a playfully indulgent dish that’s as comforting as it is flavorful.

Portion sizes here are impressively large, as noted by several patrons who find the servings generous enough to share, yet tempting enough to keep coming back for more. Gabby Gonzalez mentions splitting the country fried chicken breakfast plate with her boyfriend and still feeling completely satisfied—an excellent testament to the value you receive here. For those who appreciate attentive and personable service, Jina and other staff members have earned heartfelt praise for their kindness and humor, creating a welcoming environment that shines through every interaction.

Every dish is thoughtfully crafted to hit that sweet spot between homestyle cooking and diner classic, with a menu that also includes sandwiches like the juicy Steak Sandwich and savory French Dip Sandwich, along with fresh salads and rotating daily soups to round out the offerings. Each bite reflects a dedication to quality and comfort, designed to nourish both body and soul.

Whether you’re seeking a satisfying early morning meal or a leisurely weekend brunch, Country Way stands out as Fremont’s go-to spot for traditional American breakfast and lunch favorites served with heart. With its inviting old-school ambiance, generous portions, and genuinely attentive service, this enduring gem promises a dining experience that’s both comforting and memorable.

Really love the old-fashioned style of the design of the restaurant. It seems that they decided to not move forward with renovating it that revolves around latest technologies, but it’s really worth coming here. I dine here a few times already and wow…the service is really fast. I like how they can serve us coffee without having to pay extra. The portion sizes are huge that I can’t even finish everything. Prices are reasonable also. It’s no wonder why there are many reward frames on the walls!

HUGE portions for a good price. Split the country fried chicken breakfast plate with my boyfriend & it was more than enough food for us both. We also each got a huge mimosa for $8/each. Very cool old school vibes inside here & a homey feel. Would definitely return!

Best brekfast cafe in Fremont. Jina was very kind, helpful, and funny. I always get the boneless porkchops with 2 eggs. Comes with hash brown and bread. Get sourdough. Portions are nice but Im pretty sure the meat has been shrinkflated over the years...feels like the porkchop used to be thicker. No matter what you pick, the food will be delicious. I came on a weekday at noon so there was plenty of seating, but weekends and holidays are usually packed.

I ordered a Mushroom omelet with apple sausage and it was phenomenal. The portion was massive, I couldn't finish it and got it to go. The decor was classic diner with a slightly modern twist. Our waitress was hilarious, the food arrived quickly and was reasonably priced, I wouldn't have traded th8s dining experience for anything.

Stopped by Country Way for breakfast and it hit the spot. I ordered the French toast with sausage and eggs, and everything was well made and cooked just right. The French toast was golden and fluffy, the sausage had great flavor, and the eggs were done exactly how I asked. Simple, classic, and satisfying. Definitely a solid spot for a hearty breakfast.

I've of the best places in town for breakfast. Contrary to what others say, this place is definitely open for business. I am here on Mother's Day 5/11/25 enjoying their ribeye omelette that is superb! Large portion for $20 and worth every penny. Service is first rate and they have their own parking lot. Atmosphere is rustic but you can have informal meetings and the place is very family friendly. They will test you like family. Definitely highly recommended.

We haven’t left the restaurant and I’m writing this review. It’s been years since I’ve come to Country Way and I’m so glad we came here. It feels like stepping into a piece of Fremont’s history, yet the restaurant looks so well maintained. We got the linguicia omelette, country fried steak, and French toast. Everything tasted so good! The French toast was unlike others we’ve had—it’s like a happy combo of pancakes and French toast. Would recommend getting extra crispy potatoes. Service was quick and so friendly! Thanks Country Way!
